Dear readers, it has been a while since my last post, getting ready for the new year here, and I am also getting ready to move back to the US! I am very excited to go back home and start the next chapter of my life. In the meantime I'd like to share a few sessions that I've been doing with my new friend Jefferson Duckett. Jefferson has put together an amazing band that is doing his record. Here are a few clips from the sessions so far;

Dear readers, we recently finished recording Ellen Tsai's piece "Treasure Dive" at my home studio. What a pleasure! Ellen is a wonderful composer and was great to work with. I'd also like to thank my dear colleagues from the orchestra; Greti, Venda, and Pavel. They were very professional and played their hearts out! Here is a short clip of the piece which will be released on streaming platforms worldwide in August.

Hi everyone, I've just been recording for my friend from the group Elementary Particles. I really enjoyed coming up with a bass line for this track, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Dear readers, yesterday we recorded both first and second violin for "Treasure Dive" for string quintet. I am really pleased with how it is coming along. My dear friend Greti Kalceva played violin and her playing and her professionalism were both superb. I will update soon with a video from the sessions.

Dear readers, the past few days I have spent working on my own metal songs, which I wrote play guitar and bass on and am preparing lyrics for. I also have been in the midst of recording contrabassoon for an orchestral piece that I also recorded double bass for. For the contrabassoon part I am just the engineer! I do not play contrabassoon. Anyway we are also gearing up to record a string quintet for another composer friend of mine. The piece is pirate inspired with the title "Treasure Dive". I'll keep you posted on what's next! Till next time dear readers!

Dear readers, I have recently been working on recording bass guitar for my old friend Johan Lenox. It was a blast to play on the record and I am really looking forward to hearing the final product. I got to write some funky bass lines and used three of my favorite basses; my P Bass, my Hondo Pro (Japanese lawsuit era), and my Jackson 5 string with the growly humbuckers. I will keep you posted when the album comes out!

Dear readers, recently I decided to reduce my full time contract in the orchestra to a part time contract. The idea was that I would have more time to focus on my own artistic projects. Recently I have been writing a lot of songs, mostly metal and have been doing more recording sessions from my home studio. Once I started looking at my schedule in the orchestra and how little it was on a part time contract I started to be a little concerned that it would be TOO little. I have since realized that once you let go of something (in my case worry about work) that the projects you were hoping for find you. Like I mentioned in my last post I will be working with my friend Gabe on recording his piece for orchestra and yesterday I got the good news from by friend Stephen that he would like me to work with him as session bassist on his upcoming album. Just like that the ideal projects found me! I am so very grateful for this and I am looking forward to sharing the recording process and results with you. Thanks for reading!

Dear readers, welcome to my first BASS BLOG post! I will be using this space to talk all things bass, keep you posted on my recent projects, share ideas about music, and more!
Recently I have been working with my friend Gabriel on recording a piece of his for chamber orchestra. I had finished recording the bass part for him and told him that I really enjoyed the piece and offered to find the musicians and record the rest of the strings for him. So with a green light from Gabe I am beginning the process of finding the best string players and setting up times to come to my home studio to record.
I really enjoy this work because I get to play great music, work with my friends, and work at my own pace. It is freedom and collaboration all rolled into one ball, for me that is the best kind of collaboration.
PS-Gabe asked me if I knew anyone who plays contrabassoon and I do, so my next post will most likely involve some recording video and pictures of a contrabassoon recording session!
